Dual Career Assistance Program at Michigan Tech

Purpose statement

Michigan Tech recognizes the importance of supporting dual career partners in attracting and retaining faculty and staff by the establishment of the Dual Career Assistance Program. The Program supports dual career hiring within available resources and in cases that are supportive of the University's mission and strategic goals.

What is the Dual Career Assistance Program?

Who we help

  • Partner* of a new department/school hire or
  • Partner* of a recent strategic hire or
  • A partner* of a current employee whose retention is importantt to the department/school.

*Partner—someone whose employment at the University is a substantial factor in the candidate's acceptance of a University offer of employment or retention.

How we help

  • The hiring department contacts the DCAP coordinator to make a referral.
  • The coordinator meets with the partner to collect a resume and learn more about the individual's employment interests and needs.
  • The coordinator will assist in the identification of on campus and local networking contacts. It is the responsibility of the partner to make contacts and assist in the job search efforts.
  • The coordinator contacts departments after the partner has applied for a position to make the department aware that the applicant is a Dual Career Assistance Program participant.
